Events for new Oakton students
The following events are planned for incoming new Oakton students and their families.
INFORMATION SESSIONS
Hear from the principal, learn about our magnet programs, tour the school, see the kindergarten classrooms, and meet families of current students and other incoming kindergarten families. Three sessions will be held:

Thursday, March 7 at 6 pm
Spanish translation will be available at both. If you have a rising kindergartener, please mark your calendar and RSVP here.
Oakton Elementary School is located at 436 Ridge Ave. Families should enter through the main entrance located off of the parking lot on Austin Street. Please contact oaktonptapresident@gmail.com with questions.

SUMMER PLAYDATES
​These informal meet ups are intended to give incoming students and families an opportunity to meet. Playdates are hosted by Oakton parents and students. Look for friendly faces wearing Oakton Cougar Wear near the play area on Barton Avenue! Playdates are subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather.
KINDERGARTEN ICE CREAM SOCIAL
Join other incoming Kindergarten families on the Kindergarten playground for ice cream and playtime before the school year starts. Playground located in the interior courtyard on Austin street, west of the garden.
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL COFFEE
9:15 am – 10:00 am
Parents and caregivers are invited to stay for coffee and donuts after drop-off on the first day of school. The event is planned for the school garden area, weather permitting. In the event of inclement weather, the coffee will be moved indoors. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Deadlines

Children must be five-years-old on or before September 1, 2023, to register now for kindergarten.

Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year is open and remains ongoing.

The selective enrollment programs (TWI and ACC at Oakton) and magnet school options lottery application is open through March 22, 2024. This application is embedded in the online registration form for kindergarten students.

The TWI program is available without entering the lottery to all Spanish-speaking students who are eligible and accept English Learner services in grades K-5. To find out if your child qualifies for EL services, contact Amada Zamudio at zamudioa@district65.net

Eventos por estudiantes nuevos de Oakton
Los siguientes eventos están previstos para los nuevos estudiantes de Oakton y sus familias.
INFORMATIVOS DE INVIERNO
Aprenda del director y de los maestros de kínder acerca de nuestros programas magnet, haga un tour de la escuela, conozca a las familias de los estudiantes de kínder actuales y a otras familias nuevas de kínder. Habrá tres sesiones:

Nuevo: el jueves, 2 de mayo a las 6 pm

el jueves, 29 de febrero a las 6 pm

el jueves 7 de marzo a las 6 pm
Habrá traducción a español en ambas sesiones. Si tiene un estudiante que va a entrar a kínder, por favor reserve la fecha y RSVP aquí. Si conoce a estudiantes que vayan a entrar a kínder en el área de Oakton o familias interesadas en los programas magnet (ACC y TWI), por favor comparta esta información.
Oakton Elementary School se encuentra en 436 Ridge Ave. Las familias deben entrar por la entrada principal ubicada fuera del estacionamiento en Austin Street.

REUNIRNOS PARA JUGAR DURANTE EL VERANO EN EL PARQUE DE OAKTON
Estos encuentros para jugar tienen como objetivo dar a los estudiantes y familias entrantes la oportunidad de reunirse y conocer otras familias. Los padres de Oakton y los estudiantes organizan las citas. ¡Busque las caras amistosas con ropa de Oakton cerca del área del juego en la avenida de Barton! (Las fechas para jugar están sujetas a cancelación en caso de mal tiempo.)
FIESTA CON HELADO DE KINDERGARTEN
Únase a otras familias entrantes del Kindergarten en el patio de recreo del Kindergarten para helados y tiempo de juego. Nos reuniremos en el patio interior, en la calle de Austin, al oeste del jardín.
ENCUENTRO DE LOS PADRES DURANTE EL PRIMER DÍA DEL NUEVO AÑO ESCOLAR
9:15 am – 10:00 am
Los padres están invitados a quedarse para café y donas después de dejar a los niños en la escuela el primer día del nuevo año escolar. El evento está planeado para el patio de recreo del Kindergarten, si el tiempo lo permite. ¡Nos vemos!

Fecha límite

Los niños deben tener cinco años cumplidos el 1 de septiembre de 2023 o antes para inscribirse ahora en el jardín de infancia.

La inscripción para kindergarten para el año escolar 2024-2025 está abierta y continúa.

La solicitud de lotería para los programas de inscripción selectiva (TWI y ACC en Oakton) y las opciones de escuelas magnet está abierta hasta el 22 de marzo de 2024. Esta solicitud está incluida en el formulario de inscripción en línea para los estudiantes de kindergarten.

El programa TWI está disponible sin participar en la lotería para todos los estudiantes de habla hispana que sean elegibles y acepten los servicios para Estudiantes de inglés (EL). Para averiguar si su hijo califica para los servicios de EL, comuníquese con Amada Zamudio en zamudioa@district65.net
