Welcome to the African Centered Curriculum Program
We are honored that you're considering the African Centered Curriculum Program for your child's educational journey. This is more than a school choice...it's a decision to invest in an education that celebrates your child's heritage while preparing them for unlimited possibilities.
A Vision Born from Community
What started as a dream shared by determined parents and community advocates became reality in 2006.

The African Centered Curriculum (ACC) Program launched with a small but mighty group of K-2 students. Year by year, we've grown stronger—adding grade levels, deepening our impact, and building a thriving community that now serves students from kindergarten through fifth grade.

This program exists because parents like you spoke up, community members stepped forward, and educators listened. The ACC Program represents the power of collective action – families who refused to accept "good enough" and demanded excellence that honors our children's full identity.
Rooted in Excellence,
Guided by Culture
The ACC Program isn't just about meeting academic standards, though we absolutely do that. We're about something deeper: ensuring our children see themselves reflected in their education while mastering the same rigorous curriculum taught throughout the district.

Small Class Sizes
ACC has smaller class sizes that allow for personalized attention and meaningful connections.

Culturally Responsive Teaching
Rich integration of African and African American historical experiences woven seamlessly into core subjects while building critical thinking skills.

Strong Family Partnerships
Parents and teachers work together because we know that education works best when home and school stand together.
From Tears to Joy
How ACC Transformed Our Daughter's Love of Learning
By Julia Ferguson & Doug Lytle
After years of a difficult private school experience where Brooklyn questioned her sense of self and cried almost every day while dreading school, the switch to ACC program was the best decision we could have made for our precious little girl.
Our first grader transformed from an extremely self-conscious and hesitant child into a bright ball of energy who loves her skin, her hair, and her friends—going from crying every morning to asking to go to bed early just to get to school faster and counting down the days to the next grade.
Her teacher, Mrs. Braithwaite, the daily enrichment, and nurturing in ACC—being wrapped in love and culture, seeing herself reflected in the curriculum, living the daily affirmations and ACC creed—gave my daughter her confidence and determination.
She is now incredibly happy, thriving, confident, and performing well academically—a living testament of the positive impact the ACC program can have on children.
